FAQs
What if I'm not artistic or don't consider myself creative?
Then you'll fit right in! Creativity isn't about being "artistic"—it's about expression, exploration, and play. We've had members bring journaling, organizing, planning, cooking prep, reading, even gentle movement. If it feeds your soul and feels creative to you, it counts. The beauty is discovering what creativity means for you, not what society says it should be. This club began because I was a “former creative” who no longer identified as creative and wanted to redefine and explore it again—I hope that JBC can be a place for you to do the same if you are in a similar place.
Do I have to have my camera on?
Only if you want to! There's no right or wrong answer, just what works best for you. I'll have my camera on at the beginning and end of club time, but as a neurodivergent person, I might go camera-off during creative time when I need to conserve energy.
What about audio during creative sessions? Do I need to speak?
Not at all! We keep microphones muted during the 60-minute creative time to maintain that peaceful, focused atmosphere. You're welcome to unmute briefly during our opening intention setting (15 minutes) or closing sharing time (15 minutes) if you'd like to connect with the group, but there's absolutely no pressure to speak. Many members prefer to just listen and absorb the gentle energy of creating alongside others. Whatever feels comfortable for you is exactly right!
What kinds of projects do people typically bring?
The beautiful variety always surprises me! We've had members bring watercolor painting, bullet journaling, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, poetry writing, adult coloring books, illustration, graphic design, vision boarding, novel writing, photo organizing, air dry clay pottery, even gentle movement, stretching, and shibari. Some people bring multiple small projects to choose from in the moment. Others work on the same long-term project for months. There's no "right" kind of creativity here—just yours!
Is it okay if I need to eat, drink, or tend to other needs during the session?
Absolutely! Take care of your needs in whatever way works for you. Many members enjoy having a beverage or snack during creative time.
What if I get distracted or have trouble focusing during the sessions?
That's completely normal and welcome here. There's no expectation of constant focus. Some days you might create a lot, other days very little – both are equally valuable experiences. The environment is designed to be low-pressure.
I have a question that's not answered here. How can I get more information?
Please reach out to support@hannahkeyes.co with any questions! I'm happy to help.
Can I gift a subscription to someone else?
Yes! Gifting a subscription is a wonderful way to support someone's creative practice. Contact support@hannahkeyes.co for details on how to arrange this.

What inspired you to create Just Because Club?
Just Because Club grew from my own burnout recovery journey and my work helping others prevent burnout. I realized how many of us had lost touch with creating for pure joy, and how healing it can be to reclaim that practice together. The club is designed to be the creative space I wish I'd had at the beginning of my own recovery. You can read a more detailed background here.
